Johann Samuel Mau

Born: c. 1752

Johann Samuel Mau was a mason in Salem, North Carolina. Mau arrived in Wachovia in October 1766. He was quickly indentured to Melchior Rasp as a mason’s apprentice soon after arriving. During this time he learned brick-making from Brother Merkly. He also is noted laboring Bethabara threshing. In April of 1773 Mau was released from his apprenticeship as a journeyman mason.
